Artist Statement

Could there possibly be a time more replete with subject matter for the artist? I know we will not fully understand what is happening to us now until years have passed and we can look back, but there is no doubt we will all be changed. And during these past months, when many of us have been able to stay safely at home, the essential workers have continued to do their work, keeping all our lifelines functioning. Long shifts and commutes, family or financial problems, their own safety and health – these concerns had not lessened, but now a new threat had materialized. I have tried to portray and honor, through the quiet dignity of a man doing his job, all those workers, perhaps weary, certainly worried, when all we can see of each other now is our eyes.
